Does anyone know why every operating system needs an annoying startup sound? My guess is it is included to scare the crap out of the cat. I could be wrong. Anyways here is how you get rid of it on your Mac.
- Goto Arcana Research and download StartupSound.prefPane.
- After you download it, install it.
- Go to Preferences > Startup Sound and check the Mute check box.
- Make sure “Turn on start up volume control” is checked as well.
That’s it. For me, it took a couple of reboots before it took effect.
As for the cat.. It’s doing much better. Thanks.
