Here is one to file away in you upcoming cool gadgets file. TvCompass has introduced a Wifi enabled Home Theater Remote control. The Windows CE based device boasts a color screen, wifi capability, built in browser and can control about two dozen devices simultaneously.
The days of entering multiple device codes into your universal remote via the control surface or even USB connected PC may be over. The SR 1500 digital media remote can access a branded website via Wifi and download the codes for your plethora of Home theater equipment directly to the remote. That’s pretty handy I must say. No more repetitive 4 digit code entering to find out it still doesn’t work.
I gotta say the idea is a good one but I am pretty skeptical on if it will actually work. It has good possibilities if the code database is extensive enough to cover the majority of the brands. The biggest problem I have seen with universal remotes is that they never contain all the codes for your equipment. Try and find an all-in-one code for a 1973 8-track player, it isn’t gonna happen. I know I’m not the only one with this problem.
Might be a pretty cool gadget even if it is built on windows.
