Just when Apple thought they had covered all their back doors, Geohot (teen hacker by night, genius pimple popper by day) found a small hatch big enough for everyone to fit through with a little work. (is it me or does that sound a bit gross?) Apple’s latest firmware 1.1.3 locked down several memory registers to prevent them from being unlocked because of the last hack. So what does Geohot do… what he does best, his happy dance around Apple’s sword of a thousand truths. He installed his custom based code in a higher register, security software and Apple becomes apple sauce. Yum! Who wants some?
